P Promotions could not have picked a better spot for the twelfth round of the Mid-South Hare Scrambles Series. They found a secluded farm in Bucksnort, Tennessee, and laid out a fun track for the 427 Fox Hollow racers with Mid-State Motorsports supported Jordan Ashburn taking the Junior A class by storm. He made all the right moves and topped all of the Youth riders in the morning race.Off the start, Ashburn got the holeshot and was the first rider to enter the woods’ section with Daniel Sullivan and 13 other racers following. As they made their way on top of a ridge, Ashburn went down and Sullivan passed him. Then it was Sullivan’s turn to get passed. Going up a hill, Sullivan took his time, allowing Ashburn to get by him.
Once Ashburn got his one and only mistake out of the way, there was no stopping him. He finished with three minutes lead over second place Daniel Sullivan and third place Dustin Milam came through several minutes later.
Junior B division was a different story. They had a battle that was right from the get go. It ended with Tanner Byarly taking the Junior B lead and then moving in for the Junior A podium. He and Tyler Carter both out rode everyone but Jordan Ashburn.
Carter said, "I had a bad start and was about fifth or sixth off the line, and I just started passing kids. I wrecked three times but tried to keep a good pace."
Most of his troubles came from the steep up hills and the creek section, but he was awesome everywhere else. He finished seconds ahead of second place in Junior A, Daniel Sullivan.
The next rider through the score tent was Zachary Nash in Junior B. He came in third place and is currently facing a very tight battle in points with Carter. Nash is one point ahead of Carter with one race left in the season. Needless to say, Hazzard Hill will make the call for this year’s Junior B Champion.
In the Mini class, Wesley Bolton, Brett Iott, and Cody Shoettmer made the Podium. They made it on the last lap when the rider out front went down. Steven Middlebrook and Zach Greenwell took fourth and fifth place.
"It was very rough because there were a lot of rocks and roots and hills. It was mostly water that gave me the hardest time," said Iott.
The Pee Wee’s ventured a different track and made anywhere from 13 to 6 laps. With 18 members in two classes, it was interesting to watch them push themselves to the limits. Austin Smith, Cole Kirchoff, and Dalton Riddle out rode everyone in the 7-8 bracket. They picked good lines and made good passes. In the 4-6 age bracket, Tyler Bottoms, Hunter Gates, and Zack Kirchoff finished in the top three positions while Briar Gatres and Allisen Crain got fourth and fifth place.
