Thurman and Kirchoff Challenge

Tight battles formed in the Pee Wee classes at the Mid South Hare Scrambles Youth Series when Samuel Thuman and Cole Kirchoff entered Crossroads School. They moved to the head of the class in Linton, Kentucky and got a little closer to this season’s leaders in the Pee Wee’s ages 4-6 and 7-8.

"I liked the track a lot," said Thurman. . "It was a good race."

On a brand new Cobra 50, he raced an impressive one in 4-6 division. He was the front runner the entire race, making nine laps while KTM mounted Tyler Bottoms took second.

Bottoms said, "I don’t know how I got second"

The eleventh round brought about different winners, making it very interesting for the Championship. Thus far in the Pee Wee classes, Bottoms and Austin Smith in 7-8 have dominated. Thurman is only nine points down from Bottoms while Kirchoff is four points shy of Smith.

At this race, Kirchoff and Smith made nine laps on the Pee Wee track. Obermyer supported Kirchoff got the holeshot and had a consistent lead until the finish. On the third lap, Smith suffered with bike problems. Afterward he set his sights on Kirchoff, but first place was too far in front of him.

In spite, his luck wasn’t too bad because he finished in second place. Smith was in third place just before the finish, and he luckily got second when Trent Jones went down. Jones was in second for most of the race and ended up finishing in fourth while Dalton Riddle freight trained into third place.

"It was sort of rough," said Riddle. "My bike slid out when I went over a dip, and I went off of the course."

"My ride was awesome," said Dylan Cox, winner of the Mini class. "I crashed because my front wheel washed out and about five people passed me." Two laps later, he moved to the front and came out a Champion. The Sarge’s Cycle / Fly / Bridgestone / 6-2 Film / Anzle backed winner clenched this season’s win when he came in first place at this race.

Dylan Majors and Anderson Powersports / Tire Balls / Fox / Safety Tech / US Chrome supported Cody Shoettmer rounded out the podium.

Majors said, "The bike felt great. The track was wonderful, and I’d like to ride it again."

Riding strong in the Junior A class was Jordan Ashburn. He followed Dylan Milam for the first lap and a half, and then charged for the lead. He finished in first place with Dylan Ritter, and Milam following in second and third place.

In the same class, Adam Creasor reached his one and only goal, and that was to stay in front of Daniel Sullivan who is leading him in points. Creasor got fourth place while Sullivan was in fifth place.
